1989 930
Does anyone know this car or have any experience with this dealer? Obviously a dealer is not the preferred path, but this is a sharp car.

P.A.
Nice car, big investment. Remember a $500 investment up-front before you buy (PPI including Leak Down/Compression test with plug change) could save you a bundle in later nightmares. Good Luck JJ

The only problem with a dealer is if he does not let you PPI the car for leakdown and compression. That would be a complete deal breaker for me.

I visited their showroom (Strip mall store front) to inspect a 2002 Carrera for a friend in Ohio. They are located in the near western suburb of Chicago pretty close to my home. The car was outside right in front of the storefront and when the salesman pulled out - the car bottomed out very hard as there was a 6 inch curb. I was totally freaked as it seemed that it could cause some damage. I drove the car and decided to discuss price - They really did not act interested so I left - Just my opinion but I would not purchase a Porsche from these guys. It appears that most are Auction Cars and you will probably not get any of the cars history from them and there are plenty of nice Turbo's out there.

Don't buy an air cooled Porsche off a used car lot, these guys are dealing with auction cars etc and most of them would lie to their mothers to close a deal.

Run a carfax and you'll know if its an auction car, not that being an auction car is any big deal.

NEVER Buy a Porsche without a PPI
I made the Royal Screwup of purchasing, in November, a 930 Turbo without a PPI. The car was absolutely beautiful and I thought it was a "bargain". In March the engine failed due to pre-detonation.......it took $12,000 to rebuild the engine. I have about 300,000,000 man-hours in the car now.....and I can tell you from experience, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy any Porsche without a pre-purchase inspection, especially a leak-down test. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CHEAP PORSCHE. If you find one......RUN LIKE HELL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.
ANYONE that refuses to allow a PPI is definitely a lying thief, trying to sell you a piece of crap. ESPECIALLY on Ebay. They love selling junk that can't be inspected before the purchase, or they simply screw you by essentially stealing your deposit. |

G50 930's are not that easy to find, as 1989 was the only year they were made.
