914 Race Car Roller
Just curious what it would be worth. It has been for sale for a long time. He is asking $8500 for it. It is very unlikely that it would sell for that. What would you guess that it is worth from the pictures.
I am looking for a project. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A lot of these sell on ebay for less than or equal to this price with a well built V8 conversion engine, radiator, and tranny, custom exhaust, plus an interior.
An unbelievable 914 race car sold here for 8 grand recently with a complete modular frame and fresh V8 and just everything. Fuel cell, suspension, brakes all top rate stuff. Deals come and go, it just depends on how bad the seller wants the money at any given time. |

What would you pay for it, from looking at the pictures?

Give me a spec sheet!
When was it built? What was it built from (ie, a 914-6 might be worth more than a 914-4 Any log books/previous race history to add to value? Suspension looks fancy (front) Wheels look nice Body work is never cheap Bulding a semi tube frame isn't cheap Does it suit what you want to use it for? ie, how much more money will it take to make into the car you want? Lots of surface rust on the "hidden" parts would make me want to inspect closer

I would wait for a more reasonable deal. Think any deals will show up in the dead of winter?? I do. If you really want this particular project that you will have to haggle with the guy. It looks like the front hood scoop is designed to run a V8 radiator so again I would just buy one with an engine in it. Just to try to answer your question, however, I would offer less than 5 grand because I have seen complete 914 conversions go for that recently on ebay. It is a tough market for something like this. This one is gone already but: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/555403-1975-porsche-914-v8-race-car.html Last edited by DDDD; 11-12-2010 at 05:47 PM.. |

I agree about waiting. It is perfect due to its proximity, and the cage tied into the suspension points.
I will wait and concentrate on building a 3.0 L engine. Thanks for all who replied. This is a great site. |

$2000! I love it. I always try to think of the price that I would ask for if I was selling it. Perhaps, that is closer to what I would ask, but to be fair I have not seen it in person. Maybe it is a great deal at his asking.

There's a better prepared roller here in Sonoma for $12,500.
$8,500 seems like a fair price, if you consider how much time and money you would have to spend to duplicate. Probably $2500-3000 in the cage alone! KT
