1987 911 Cabriolet - what would you pay?

Hi,
Looking at a 1987 Cab with 205K miles. Had an high end engine rebuild done at 117K and has ALL service records since 7K miles. Two owner AZ car in pretty darn good condition considereing miles/years. Owner wants 13.5K - seem fair? Paint is original and in good shape, original Fuchs, top good condition, good tread on tires, no oil leaks, AC runs cold......

Appreciate any feedback! Might get this baby tomorrow.

Too much for that kind of mileage. If you plan on keeping it then it doesn't matter of course. I recently sold my 87 cab with 98k miles.

Price seems pretty fair if you want/can live with the cabrio (which of course brings the value down a bit), considering the rebuild and service records. If it were me I would get a PPI and go from there - if all is mostly well then you could use any little issues to haggle on price, or if it passes with flying colors you can buy in confidence.

why do you say the price goes down if it is cab? all publications (at leat all the ones i have seen) that present market valuations indicate otherwise.

The price seems fair to me....

A top end to cure valve guides is not uncommon at that mileage (117k), the bottom end with good maintenance (which this one seems to have had) could see another 100k+ miles. Being a G50 car does not hurt it either.

I'm sure you want it as a driver, and this one seems perfect for that role.

I've driven a few high mile SC/Carrera's that drove amazingly (given their high mileage) well. I've also driven some low mileage, overpriced, very marginal cars.
I've driven 915 cars that shift better than G-50 cars. Unless you are a collector who wants a low mile show car, IMO you're better off going with a 911 with some miles & documented repairs/maintenance.

I'd get a PPI and provide a good offer if the PPI was good and I liked the color combo. Good Luck.
