Is there something special about this '74 U.S. Carrera?

Just wondering if there is something out of the ordinary about this '74 U.S. Carrera targa. Pretty strong pricing thus far. Porsche : 911 - eBay (item 260754019947 end time Mar-27-11 15:54:46 PDT)

First off 1974 MY Vehicles never came equipped with California black license plates. Vehicle is not Viper Green either. Love the "Normal" oil leak comment.:)

rear wheel arches look to be RS style, could be factory, if anyone remembers the orange and white 74 Carrera Targa at the Ventura show, some cars came randomly with RS rearflares from factory... cant tell for sure the pic is small.

if they are real buyers and no funny games then most likely it will head back to Germany, they been snatching all the clean original cars and willing to pay for them.
Looks real clean to me specially if its original paint. I would certainly pay more for original paint and I think thats where the value is in this car.

WANNA930 03-20-2011 07:02 AM

I say BS! If you had a car for sale on EBAY for $20k something and somebody offered you double that it would already be sold and auction ended.

Besides the odd color is there something else here?? The last big dollar one as the lite blue one and that was close in $$.

Macroni 03-20-2011 09:45 AM

Hmmmm..... The asking, $58,900, seems a bit over the top and I do not see this car as a market setter. The USA Carrera is a desirable car (especially 1974) but tend to have askings from the mid 30s to mid 40s.

This one has been on EBay forever @ $46,500 asking

This one is at Sloan and they want $65,000+

The euro carreras of this vintage certainly sell in this price region and much higher due to the 911/83 MFI motor. These cars start in the high $70s.

This 1975 Euro they are asking $80,000+

This 1976 Euro they are asking $175,000

The only thing special is the high bids and the poor cosmetic condition, and who know what else one will find when doing a PPI....

RatBox 03-22-2011 08:53 PM

It's neat , in that it's a very early example & supposedly original paint. BUT I would not buy anything off ebay (or sell) .

Crappy company (let's see .... give us your banking access and w'ell remove what WE THINK you owe us. Any indiscrepancies ...........write us an email . NO you CANNOT call us !).

Again CRAPPY company

POORSH 03-22-2011 09:18 PM

The bidding has come down from $50K on Saturday to $29K today. I wonder if the bidders are real.

1974 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Bahama Blue/Black 45,203 miles | Sloancars[/url]

The Sloan Car looks cool, but it's not a Carrera any more. It's priced strongly for a "not a Carrera" or a "hot rod" but that said, I would be surprised if it didn't ultimately get sold for very near their price. From the pictures (caveat) it appears to have the intangibles.

Concerning the Bahama blue 1974 US Carrera coupe just referanced.

(Sloan Cars) :

"Built for famed Brumos Porsche racing team"

Actual current (or last ?) owners original text concerning the above mentioned history :

"This Porsche Flagship of 1974 was special ordered in very rare Bahama Blue by a master mechanic at Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville Florida. "

The fact's seem to have of morphed a bit

What do you expect ...........dealers. Unfortunately the vast majority seem to have to continually try to puff up various cars history's , into something their not.

To me , it's a complete turn off. I like the car, just not the hype

schumicat 03-23-2011 05:39 PM

ebay doesn't specify any means of payment, the seller does. the seller may accept cash, checks, credit cards, gold bullion, etc.

This is very true of this car......... It was on another web site which also touted its history as a famed member of the Brumos racing contingent.... with that being said it does look like a great car!

WANNA930 03-24-2011 09:06 AM

The Bahama has also had it's priced raised about $15-20k since it was listed for sale mid last year somewhere else.

As for the green Bidding doesn't make sense Are you going to tell me you would turn down the $50k bid that has now been retracted down to $29??? Also the same bidders are still in the game. Little lost as to what is going on there.

Things used to be great before sites like this expos everything. Then again a good price is what you are willing to pay.

Hi,

I cannot currently ask questions on Ebay (they don't support my older browser anymore and i'm not going to change). Can someone send the seller in Oregon of the green Targa (461 0012) a question . Asking him if there are blocked off licence plate light cut outs on this cars whaletail ?

thx

Macroni 03-28-2011 05:41 AM
