1968 l sportomatic

I am looking at a 1968 L sportomatic soft window targa, and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the value of this car. Excellence gives a range of 20 to 40,000, but there is no provision for the sporto vs the manual. my inclination is that the sporto make it less valuable although it is probably more rare.
thanks

Sporto would not command any premium for rarity and as you suspect, would probably detract from value, except for the right specific buyer.

Excellence values are typically out to lunch and I would wait for a forum expert to chime in (I'm looking at you Macroni, racer, techweenie) but no-one can give any opinion on values without knowing:

-mileage
-general condition and level of originality
-originality of colour/paint
-condition of powertrain
-how much rust there is

Cheers

d.

commented on Early S: this car should sell at the stronger end (30,000+) of the excellence range. Again rust is my concern. From pictures it looks very complete.....

Don't think this car is mentioned on the s registry site at least I don't see it.
The car that I'm looking at is matching numbers will need a full resto including mechanicals. It is priced at 15 k looks to me more like a 10k deal at best. The soft window targa appeals to me but I'm having trouble with the sporto don't really want that and thought about a change to the 3 pedal set up but probably more trouble than it is worth.??
