1985 Carerra pricing

Saw the post about Pano prices, I wish! I have currently advertised an under 91K miles very nice shape Carrera in Marble grey/Blue leather languishing at $19,500. Am not happy with the response. Using SF bay area craigslist, here and Ebay classified. Thinking it is priced right but market does not agree?

Comments welcome.

I think you're priced about right although blue interior is not the most popular. Call a paintless dent guy and get the dings out, unless you're in a hurry just be patient. If it was a black interior it would have sold or at least more interest.

average price from looking in the last few months has been 11-15K even nice ones that should be worth 18-20 or were before the market took a dive are selling for that, 18-20 gets a super nice one with less than 100k, a bit like yours

imho, small price drops won't move a car like yours. If someone was generally (and genuinely) interested, they would have reached out and maybe even mentioned a "low ball" offer to you already. .Or they are watching to see what kind of activity you are seeing.

Pelican (and other enthusiast boards) will ask the hard questions.. like where is the papertrail.. motor rebuilds, rcent work, issues with the car etc. They also tend to look for a specific "thing".. like "all original" or one with AX or DE/Track upgrades. Missing out on the "extensive records" the seller had 1 year ago isn't helpful either. Hopefully you have a papertrail in your 1 year of ownership?

With 90K miles, I would want to know about any rebuilds (valve guide issues exist for this motor); at 25+ years old, how new are Clutch? Shocks? Brakes? Rubber bushings in the suspension? Fuel Lines? Weather stripping? Original toolkit and air pump? How about the original steering wheel?

That said, for Craigslist or the local paper, you might not have to be so specific in your marketing.

Also, still, $20K in disposable cash isn't overly common. Loans for "really old" cars, and to be fair, 1985 is OLD, can be hard to get.. so financing for buyers may be awkward. That's why $10K samples sell quick or 100% original sell quick at higher prices, to those of a more "liquid" ability. Be patient and firm if you believe it to be worth $20K. If you "just want it sold" then you need to be willing to accept lower offers.

Thanks you, well put. Still peeved at myself and Carrera Motors Bend Oregon for the service records.
