If you can't sell your Porsche in X number of months...

I've noticed a lot of people who constantly bump their cars, same price, same specs, month after month. Every time I see them I think, "if it was priced right it would sell in less then a month, so lower your price or stop bumping".

Just curious what others think is an appropriate amount of time to wait before a seller ought to realize they need to reevaluate what their car is actually worth?

BTW I sold a 1985 911 Targa on here in 2 weeks, I mighta left a few bucks on the table but I value quick and easy sales where the buyer and seller are both left feeling good about the transaction.

I think price has a lot to do with why cars don't sell, but presentation and venue also have a lot to do with it. I'm a huge fan of this board and the Pelican community, but I'm not convinced that the enthusiast-related bulletin boards are the best place to sell a vehicle.

The once a month bump to the top people dont bother me, its the bump to the top every day or every other day thats rude. After a week of that crap everyone has seen it, give some others a chance.

I've had a car sit for 6 months with no interest and suddenly have 2-3 people desperate for it with no change in price.

The problem is that we're not selling Chevys. We're selling vehicles that are rare and attract a very specific buyer.

And I agree with George that enthusiast forums are not a great place to sell. When I sold my '72 3.2 hot rod last Summer, I avoided the "usual" forums. When I sold a '92 C2 Carrera with "too many miles on it" I was successful elsewhere, but not with Porsche enthusiasts. This audience can be a bit jaded...

I agree give others a chance; Quit bumping so often

I sold my 911sc last year in a week. Probably left a few dollars on the table. I think if anyone is searching for your car they will find it without it constantly being bumped. Craigslist is the most frustrating venue; cars are constantly reposted by dealers and who knows some private sellers ere either just bragging or very overpriced.

Agree with last post. Sellers and buyers could all be more sincere in the process and their pricing.
