It was the '80s. Women wore shoulder pads. Designers went crazy. Probably all the nose candy they were doing.

Gotta love the Porsche crest in the tire tread, tho.

That's a cool car. For something deeply unattractive, you could have panned your camera over for a shot of the T7 754... (the dark green car visible in the second and third shots)

If you ask me, that has hints of what the 996 *should* have been. Sure, it needs some cleaning up, especially those god-awful wheel arches, but really, the genesis is there, and what this could've been would very possibly have been much better than the 996 was.
