930 asking pricesare all over the board currently... not many actual sale prices tracked.
I think the 930's that are bringing the higher prices right now are the early Turbo Carreras (75-77) that are unmolested stock or restored examples. Of course the 89's are bringing good numbers as well. Think the rest just boil down to that seller finding a buyer that's just got to have it for dollars being asked. In other words, a lot of them are having a hard time finding a new home unless the price is right or the buyer is uninformed as to what his money should get him.

I think origional, unmolested examples have indeed gone up in asking and sold prices. I bought my 86 (34K, all origional, two owner) last fall for $35K. I have no doubt that I could sell it for that ( or 5% more) today.
I don't care though, it's a keeper, and an example of Porsches glory days IMHO ![]() |

I think they are rising. Talking of rising prices seems like a few low mile 84-89 carrears have also brought very strong money in the last couple of months.

Yes they're rising and they will continue to. Simple supply and demand. People will always love'em but fewer and fewer original examples exist.
I was in the "market" for a 930 for about a year and a half until I finally found an '86, 38k, all original, documented, California car. The latter is my preference but being born and raised on Cali cars, it holds value to me. But I purchased that car for 40k three months ago. Within reason the price wasn't as important as buying the right car. Maybe not a "great deal" but there are very few all original 930s with low miles for sale... And I'm anal when I mean original; including original Blaupunkt, speaker grills, wheels, tool kit, intercool, turbocharger, cat/muffler. These things are very difficult to replace and if found warrant a premium price. All thing being equal with the cars condition. It's usually the axiom that the lowest mileage, factory examples will warrant the highest prices, I don't see why 930s would be any different. Just go to Sloan Motors and see what he asking for those 930s he's got..Plus I think the '89's are inflated prices, personally. Yes they seem to fetch 4k to 7k more..But I like the original 4 speed/ manual clutch, just like the 934/935s, that's the reason for the car in the first place,,,..raw-ness ..And a true piece of not only Porsche history but automotive history. BTW Six Gun I'm interested in your car, when and where did you get it.. |

Shlobek;
I bought the car last October from Richard Sloan in New Haven Ct. I was looking for a car with all the atributes that you mentioned in your post, plus it had to be Silver/blk. I had planned on waiting for one to come along, but was lucky. Great car. ![]() |

I would say it depends on weather he has it on consignment, or he owns it. He has a thirty year history with the cars, and only takes in cars that he can represent honestly. I have bought two cars from him and sold one. That being said, he has his distractors, with the biggest gripe being that he asks to much for the cars. I can only say, my experience has always been, you get what you pay for. You will always find a car some where cheaper. All I can say is if you are intrested enough to make an offer on one of his cars he will dicker with you. |

Six Gun: yes I know your car very nice, congrats. Actually my car is similar, meteor/black leather. I was looking for a different interior but the full leather with sports seats sold me.. Both on the rare side when it comes to these cars..let alone the condition was the best I've seen...it was professional appraised for 41.5k

sloan did have the 78 lime green 930 w<1000 miles listed for $125k. it is not on his website anymore and was not there very long, so i imagine it was sold and probably sold for at or very close to the asking price. i think that was a fair price for that particlaur car if you wanted a museum piece in an interesting color.

I agree
Now is a good time for 930's. To buy and own.
I have a 930, mine is a 1986 black/black with 64k. Wish it had lower miles and a more desirable color, but I am not complaining. Because I bought mine at a good time, before the big raise and fall. Mine was $24,500 all stock bought in 2005, but I think it's worth the 35k range, love the car, never had any minor problems. I do not see these cars getting lower only higher, hey 35-40k is chump change, look at Turbo Porsche's they are unreal prices, I would love to own a newer twin turbo model but way out of my price range.....Sloan Cars are boss but very high prices but most are very rare. Also, I agree with above, very hard to find original factory models. Later |
