Boxster or Cayman sans engine - deal or no deal
Hi, I have noticed every once in a while a Boxster or Cayman comes up like the following
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/621767-2006-cayman-s-needs-work-cheap.html These tend to go somewhat fast. It is just a matter of most likely replacing the engine (which at a cost of 12-15k new plus labour puts you in at under 25k for this particular Cyaman) and you are good to go. Am I missing something, are these the great deals that they seem to be? Thanks for any insight |

Install used engine, resell. Easy $$. If that's your thing.

Actually not for reselling. Intention would be to have it as a keeper. Another thought is that with a new engine as least I know what I have (engine wise). Even could do a number of maintenance and mod items at the same time as the engine install
Thanks for the reply Last edited by frankv; 08-09-2011 at 05:46 PM.. |

There isn't much of a market for the engines, so they can be had at reasonable prices, and you could be in a $25K car for, say, $19K. That's the worst case. Best case is that the engine is fixable. The Cayman is a really outstanding car...
