So was this a good deal (assuming they sold for asking price?)

I never assume anything sells for asking price. I think the package price he's asking is about what the individual vehicles add up to by themselves. So, at asking price there doesn't appear to be a discount in my eyes. If they sold for 15-20% below asking price, then a decent deal was had.

Seemed like a decent deal at asking. Orange 911 @ $20K, track car @ 10K and 996 at $15K...

To me, the track car was the dog of the group. For someone who could use the track car or the parts from it, it was probably a fair deal at the asking price if the other cars were in driver level condition.

It takes $10k to build a track 944 spec racer but they don't sell for that. They sell for half that. That puts the E at $20k and the '99 996 at $20k.

Seems like $35k is the number where this deal would begin to make sense (to me). Why pay $40k, which is essentially total market price for all 3 cars. Add PPI and transport costs and you are already underwater.

Who wants a package of cars like that unless you want to take time selling the ones you don't want. I don't see a lot of "cross shopping" out there among the 3 examples to begin with. Taking the time/effort to market each one to the correct buyer demo might yeild more results. I would also think the seller would still get lots of calls for "how much just for xxx?" if a buyer really wanted any particular one.
