Movie car Porsche

You'd better be pretty impressed with the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds to bid the money they want for a rebodied '78 911...

eBay #200622067620

The description is a hoot. Obviously written by someone without a clue.

He lowered his price significantly. In the past three auctions, starting bid was $70k.

My guess: He's thinking since "Eleanor's" are worth $$$ due to association with this film, that his turd-wagen is too...

I guess if I were going to pay a premium for any "celebrity" Porsche, it would have been the one TRE built for Holly Hunter's TeeVee series (which I never saw). They had to build up the pedals for her to be able to drive it.

I know the owner of the production company that commissioned the car as well as the builder
as indicated on the title SPS (Steves Porsche Sales) in AlHambre Los Angeles ,I really doubt
they are involved and more likely it was liquidated with other stunt cars earlier on.
A funny note halfway through filming when this scene was being shot I got a hurried request for a 915 tranny as the one in the car got locked up some how,so I guess I oughta look for a
gratuity huh?Bert

with great expert craftsmanship a new “1999” 996 composite fiberglass body parts (were all factory original NOS Porsche parts made in Germany) was handcrafted onto “Tina’s” chassis.

"just shaking my head"

I agree with Kinein. The sad thing is there are people out there that will really go for this.
I'd much rather have Holly and her 911.

It just so happens that this car has showed up for sale again, in the perfect place, in the Barrett Jackson auction tonight. It is lot no. 1020.2 they even did a little bio on the car. I cant wait to see the sale price. I feel bad for the next owner. Sold with a bill of sale only. 1978 PORSCHE 911 Lot 1020.2 | Barrett-Jackson Auction Company

B-J is not a Porsche-knowledgeable environment. Somebody didn't do any homework on this... meantime (what appeared to be a very nice) '73 S Targa brought $80K. If as described, it was a $100K car.

I never realized that the "996" in the movie was actually a rebody...

That poor car should be destroyed...

Hard to believe that some people out there find the 1st gen 996 lines better looking than the SC's...
