Feeler for '89 911 3.2

Well I have a 1989 911 3.2 and thinking about selling her. She is a driver with 304k miles but the engine was rebuilt 50k miles ago by a reputable shop in Reisterstown, MD. Had the major back at the same shop in '09. I believe I am the third owner. Speedo/odo just stopped working three mos ago. I take her out for weekend drives in the mornings. She is black inside and out with some rust in the usual area but none in the battery area. There are also scratches and dings as one would expect from a car with this many miles. Interior is surprising in vg shape. Would be good for a daily driver or track car. Seeing as how bad the economy is I know I won't get much but I won't sell her for $5k. I'm not desperate yet. Just wondering what would be a good price......Thx.

Good year and color, but there is no "usual area" for rust in the galvanized cars. Where is the rust?

I have to agree with tech. Rust is a deal breaker on the Carreras, as they just don't rust unless neglected. I have heard of some of them with rust around the lower front windshield corners, but that is about it. Rust in a passenger door either means it was in an accident or the drain holes were plugged up and it rusted from the inside out. I can't imagine anyone giving you much more than $7000. I wouldn't even give you that. But someone might just to have a 911 to drive.

If you have documentation of the rebuild you should be able to get at least $5500 for it if you include the DME and wiring harness.

Transmission $500, maybe.

If the fuch are 7" and 8", not damaged, you got yourself $1500 right there.

The rest I would just sell with the tub for $1500

Yeah....$7000 was my range. Again its definitely a driver not show so picky people not apply. Use it as a daily or track car. I probably could part it but there are no tools, equipment, or space for that. Its either sell or keep. If I can get $7600 for it that would be good.

You should list it here at that price. It will sell...

+1, an '89 with that many miles is an oddball.

It has some desirable parts, if it has the original 9" rear Fuchs ($1k+ pair) and a decent G50 ($1.5+), 3.2 rebuilt within 50k miles ($5k) = $7.5k easy - well, it will take some "free"labor to pull & sort.

It's an unfortunate scenario. If you have the tme and energy to part it out you will make much more. I would try craigslist and other avenues if you insist on selling. You likely won't get much here. Mist will rake you over the coals for the mileage and the rust. They could care less about rebuild. Good luck, Tim

$7600 is a no-brainer. But for me, $7600 plus $1600 to haul it to CA is no bueno.

Well there is interest but I just want to see what it can bring. Rather do a local sale in the spring-time on craigslist first......

Any pics would be helpful. If you part out, I may be interested in some bits.

Not just any flipper, but the infamous Geoff W a t t i k e r.

Worth noting the absence of the word 'rust' in the flipper's description.

I noticed that too, plus nothing about how the miles are wrong from a non working speedo.

Had an offer but the overseas bidder already retracted it, maybe they seen this post

Ok who is this Geoff ********? The car is a solid driver. He drove it to NC. The car had paint chips, scratches and dings. It has 306k miles on it. The speedo and odo did go out as stated only a short time ago. I guess he will make a few bucks off it but nothing big. Win some lose some.

The person that buys it will lose big time, by the seller being dishonest about the rust. Nothing gets by you Skynard, good job keeping a heads up.. Tim

I sent the guy an e-bay "question" today asking if the car had any rust. He responded there was a very minor spot of surface rust by a window corner but his body guy "fixed" it. No mention of any other rusty areas (doors, etc.). I hate it when these people misrepresent cars and are less than truthful............

Feeler for 89 91

I saw The Iron Lady earlier this week. Meryl was obviously good -- although Im not sure I agree with her winning the Golden Globe and probably the Oscar as well -- but the film itself really did nothing for me.
