73 Targa on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140712423669&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
When I first read the description and saw "rebuilt engine and transmission less than 1000 miles ago" I thought this looked like a reasonable deal. Then I looked at the photos. Who rebuilds an engine and doesn't even make an attempt to wipe off the exterior dirt?
An old friend used to have an expression "Two quart rebuild"--this was a quart of degreaser and a quart of paint! Somebody has saved that time and money on this one.

Well, the listing now shows as "no longer available" when you click the link above but it still appears on my "watch list". I tried checking the seller with "Toolhaus.org" - thanks Techweenie--but they have been blocked by ebay...

Here's the correct link to the listing (no affiliation!): Porsche : 911 Porsche : 911 | eBay

In my opinion these are the top 3 reasons why the car hasn't sold yet:
- red fan, as suggested by sm70911
- rust in several areas (replace front pans, anyone?)
- engine shroud should be yellow for a 73T MFI, not red

Add to that quite a number of non-original parts (whale tail, outside mirrors, door pockets, shifter,...), making it less desirable for folks looking for an original, unmolested car.

Just my $0.02...

Your link doesn't work, either...

Just enter the Item # into the E-Bay search window: 140712423669

Wow, that has to be the dirtiest rebuilt engine I have ever seen!

dporsche 74, you beat me to it!

There is so much wrong with that car (for the price) that I don't even know where to begin... paint, tail, middle rear valence, gauges, shroud, etc. Oh, and just wait til you get that burgundy paint job off of the body panels. Surprises await, I'm sure.

Hey, a "great project", but for over $22K? You gotta be kidding me...
