purchasing a car at Hershey

Im considering going to Hershey this year. I am currently looking to buy a 97-98 993 S body car. I do not know these cars well so I would rely on a ppi for that. Are there any nearby places that could do a ppi that weekend? Would it be completely nuts to buy a car based on test drive, carcass and any records the owner may have? I have a decent knowledge of cars bit not Porsche specifically. Any thoughts? Anyone planning on going with a car for sale? Looking for 97/98 993 S body, manual trans, blue, yellow or possibly black.

It's pretty unlikely you are going to get to drive it home even if you buy it. Why don't you make an offer contingent on a successful PPI? Seriously, there are lots of fabulous 993S's out there. It's worth waiting for the right car, and if your budget is large enough, you won't have to wait long.

Im not set on buying one at Hershey, just wanted to be prepared in case one fits what I am looking for. I had thought of riding down and back with someone and if I did purchase a car, was planning on driving back rather than rent a trailer.

Just realized autocorrect replaced carfax with carcass. Oops.

Hi

Nice to buy on the spot, but most likely need to just hold with a down payment. I do not know how much those cars costs, but most sellers today will not take a bank draft or cashiers check, too many fakes. Most like a bank transfer, or go with Chase, they are large enough to be in every town and do it at Chase.

Good point, hadnt really thought about that! I figured I could get a wire transfer done on that day, but depending on the time, maybe not. We have USAA and they have been very good about transfers in the past. I have made plans to stick around the area until Wednesday, I have family nearby, so this should not be a problem. Also have decided to take my truck.

Hi

Well if you have a truck, get your ducks in a row. First be able to get a bank transfer in 1 or 2 days, or go with a big bank. Then your the boss, money talks period. Then call U-Haul for a trailer, the auto transport type about $100 a day and tow home.
