Price check on a 96 993tt?

Assuming PPI is good ...

1996 993 Turbo, described as near flawless, white/cashmere, 45k miles, original paint, clean Autocheck, dealer serviced religiously every 3k miles, all records, 2 owners, last for last 8 years (longtime PCA member, selling because he just bought a 997 Turbo), no track, no rain, garaged, aftermarket Speedline rims plus original factory twists, phone console, hi-fi, rootwood dash, shifter and brakes, 45k service just done ... asking price is $68k.

You said clean autocheck. Does that mean no accidents?

If you've been looking for a while you know that the price is not bad and there arn't many to choose from. So if its want you want I'd go very close.

I think the first step though is request these actual records. And go thru them all. I just bailed on a 993 because the seller stated recent top end, but in the end could not prove it and then turns out it "really was done!" but by previous owner 10 plus years ago so not exactly recent. Oh and he still didnt have a receipt for it so I would have to take his word.... the morale is ... due diligence. Step 1 request records, step 2, ppi step 3 its yours....

I haven't been actively seeking a 993TT, I have watched the market as I would eventually like to own one. My own informal observations suggest that the asking price of these cars has been gradually rising over the last 12-18 months. I think there is a large gap in prices realized for exceptional low mileage cars in desirable colors vs. higher mileage, more ordinary (to the extent any 993TT could be considered ordinary) examples. JB's comments above are spot on imo. The price doesn't seem far off the mark to me and if the car is exceptional, it might be a bit of a buy.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, the Autocheck shows no accidents, and regular inspections and gradually increasing mileage in two states (two owners). I spoke to the service manager at the Porsche dealer who has been caring for the car regularly for the last eight years, he pronounced it a great example.

The consignment dealer says he checked the car with a paint meter and found no paintwork (which I will verifiy). The only flaw he found on the car was some slight scraping on the bottom of the front spoiler. He also remarked that the car was so clean he didn't have to touch it, just rolled it into the showroom (he has had it for 2-3 days). My conversation with the original owner went well, he's had other 911s, as have I. The owner is making copies of the records for me.

I will have it carefully looked over, but so far, it's looking like a nice car. The car looks brand new inside and out in both the owner's and dealer's pictures. The rootwood dash is not my cup of tea, but other than that, my first 993 was grand prix white, and I have a preference for the cashmere interiors.

I've owned numerous 993s, other 911s, and an 87 930, so I know what I'm getting into (I think).
