Seasonality Affectation Pricewise ?
Is there a difference in the price achivable to a p car in winter Vs summer etc ?
I want to do a coast/coast trip in summer next year and want to pickup a late 80's 911 coupe to do it in and then use the car sparingly thereafter -- so I could take my time in buying one, but do prices get affected by seasonality at all ? |

Yes and no. The volume of cars usually swells in the Spring and Fall, but the actual prices theoretically remain the same. The reason for this being is alot of folks store their cars in the winter--and when they come out of storage many go up for sale for various reasons. Many people also complete restorations over then winter months and the offer cars for sale once Spring arrives. This is especially true for cabriolets, as this is the prime weather to sell a convertible of any type. Again, in the Fall, owners don't have the space or interest to "put the car away," and so alot of cars go up for sale then.
Taking your time is a great idea. I'd even go look at a couple in the mean time that you know you DO NOT want--as kind of a way of getting familiar with the kinds of issues a neglected or poorly kept car will have. It will also put your mind in a frame of reference in regards to what to expect for whatever money you are spending. Good luck, the hunt is half the fun!

Of course! Best time to sell is the start of the spring/summer driving season. Best time to buy is at the end of the driving season or the winter.
