911 Targa wide body, ideas?

On a hunt for a nice summer driver for the time the 911 SC is on the rotisserie waiting to be painted...

I found a 1986 Euro model targa with the M491 factory wide body option. It's got about 77 k miles (125 K kilometers) in it. Seems to be well maintained, but re-painted yellow over guards red.

Even thou the paint job is done nicely. it would be a minus...

Seller is asking 22k Cad. for it. Most 1983-1987 targa's here go for 16-22K. Is the M491 and euro version a premium you think?

Opinions appreciated!

Is the engine also Euro specs? The front fender looks to be an aftermarket add-on. That is price high for a car that is not original. What's the interior like? Clean? 18K or lower at best.

If its a genuine car, I'd imagine low production numbers and at least in the US, there seems to be a cult following for M491 cars.

Agreed, front valance looks aftermarket.. Do we know WHY the full body color change?

Talked to the shop who maintained the car for the last 6 years and apparently its in great shape. Very clean. Comes with a new spare front window and extra targa soft top. It's got a new fiberglass targa top. The current owner is very anal on his car and numerous repairs are done, up to about 17K. (Clutch, breaks, bearings SS exhaust) Not sure about the engine being euro.

Front valance has to go.......Story is one of the previous owner got tired of the Red. Funny hoe people are. The SC I am working on has the interior pained from Cork to black....Reason? Previous owner did not like the Cork.

Targa's seem to be a hard sell, Agree with a price of 15-18 K being fair.

As a WAG, I'd say the M491 is around +$5K. And the color change is worth around -$5K. YMMV
