Full or open face?
I'll take a Medium & a Large if shipping to Anaheim, CA is possible and not too expensive.

Thanks

Why do helmets have an expiration date - anyone know?

I fly helicopters for a living and I have to wear a helmet (I hate it). My helmet can be 20 years old but as long as it is in good working condition It is considered safe to use. Certainly an accident in a helicopter is at least as bad as one in an automobile. There is no regulating body governing when we have to retire our helmets. What makes race helmets so special?

I agree, i'm sure its just about money making but i'd love to hear a real scientific reason or see some crash testing proof.

plastic weakens over time from sunlight, heat cycles, etc. same deal with child seats (most have 5 year expiration). the safety standards they have to pass to get the certification also get stricter over time.

Send them to the local fire department. They can use them to practice removing them for when they come across a motorcycle crash.

Or in third world country (oversea's) where their version of their American Dream is not via lawsuits

P.S. Glad to see you find a place

Try the local SCCA group of auto-xers. In our local region, we sold ~10 expired (for BMW CCA/PCA DE use) helmets for $20/ea to the SCCA folks and they can use them for another 5 years I think. We turned around and purchased a couple new loaners for our chapter.
