1973 911S front seats
Looking at some black vinyl seats for a 1973 911S with headrests. Will need new covers, pads and spring set I suspect. Rails and mechanisms need to be blasted, replated or repainted.
What is a fair price to offer for these ? |

I have sold and bought a few sets of '69 through '72/'73 sport seats and prices certainly vary
usually dependent on usability and immediate condition ,cores needing reupholstering and mount refinishing can go as little as $1500 to as much as $3500 particularly if a rare color . Also should the upholsterey be usable and good to very good condition prices seem to escalate from said $3500 to over $6500.. If you can find a decent reasonably complete set with mounts that are correct for your car a good bet is to obtain them and correct any deficiencies at your earliest conveinence. Prices just don't seem to be going down and there are less and less good examples every year.. Oh and congrats on a very nice buy ,saw your post over on the registry, not the easiest thing to pull off these days and keep it too your self, I recently bought the very first Porsche I ever had an opportunity to ride in some 35 years earlier,a '69 S in original untouched condition so I have some idea how you might feel. thanks a lot. So $350 for a complete pair, serviceable but in need of refinishing was a good deal then ? Now I just have to drive to PA to pick them up as he won't ship to Canada.

I'm sorry for some reason I thought you were speaking of optional "Sport" seating, for $350
that would be the deal of the century! I am reasonably sure your speaking of "Touring" style seating which is a little more upright, wider and generally softer sprung, your price is in the market for a set of these although in excellent condition would often go as high as $1500 to $1750 particularly in Leather...Bert

Yes, the regular touring seats with the sort of flatter headrests. The LOA does not indicate sport seats on the car originally (FWIW), and I think these seats, from a 1973 911S are more authentic that the crappy 80's Recaro generic seats.
They are in black vinyl, but need some reupholstering, especially the driver's side bolster as usual. Car left the factory with black vinyl, so I'll probably just redo them that way for the sake of autheticiy. These seats were on ebay with a buy it now of $800, but I was the only bidder at $350.
