What does a pair of 9 x 16 Fuchs in Good Order run ?

I'm kinda shocked at what "driver" quality ones are bringing these days.

I just saw a set of 7's & 9's sell for $2100.00+ (e-bay) - the 9's pushed the price of course. I saw another set sell for around $2k (again 7's/9's).

I'd venture a guess that driver 16 x 9's in decent shape are in the $1500+ range, and that excellent refinished 9's are $2k+.

Of course there are still deals out there, if you're in a big city (like LA) jump fast and have cash. Oh, and unless you need 9's for a proper restoration ('89, late turbo, etc..), you may expand your search to include 16 x 8's - they seem to bring less and they look the same from the exterior and wear similar tires.

You and me both. Considering the real shortage of tire choices in 245/45R16, the super-premium on these guys is tough to figure out. I've seen 7x16+8x16 sets in reasonable shape go for as low as $1000, shipping included. That's not a bad price for a set of forged wheels.

It might be a spring/summer bubble - the wheels I've seen go for lower prices seem to get offered up in the late fall, early winter.

I saw a pair of 9x16s on eBay being bid on at $2500 not long ago - and the reserve hadn't been met! :shakes head:

I have a feeling there will be a market adjustment coming, but maybe I am wrong. Maybe its wishful thinking since I need a pair of 9s. The tire choices have been limited for a long time, and the few options there used to be have become NLA. I think people will be forced to start dumping the 9s in order to get tires, unless a tire maker finds a way to make the niche profitable.

Now that euromeisters 17s are in production there is a "cheap" option that looks factory-ish. I know its apples to oranges to compare original forged fuchs to cast repros, but for practical purposes it makes little sense to spend 2k+ for a set of 16x7&9s and then struggle to find tires when you can buy a set of good looking fakes in 17x7&9 with your choice of tires for less.

On the other hand they are still Fuchs and aside from tires, they are the most desirable size apart from early wheels or racing. Maybe they will hold their value.

That's an issue facing those holding 9x16s right now. The "market" for 9x16s has been driven a lot by how they look on the wider cars, and how well they fill the rear fenders. Yes, some folks use them for racing, and for that purpose they will always have value. But for those folks looking to go bigger because they want a bigger look for their street cars, paying $2k+ for some wheels that can be had for about a quarter of that shipped looks pretty good if you're not using the wheels for HPDE purposes. This will naturally depress the market. That is, as long as Euromeister and the others continue to provide 17" solutions.

BRAID Wheels from Spain makes a full line of Fuchs replica.They are not that cheap ($700-800 for 9x16 I believe).May be not so bad for a new wheel if quality is there but it is still a replica.
Although, this is from a company that's been making wheels for WRC cars for many years , and I believe their Fuchs replica is being used by a lot of the european historic rally driver, so quality should be there.

I think 8"s may bring even more than 9"s these days.

I just posted a set for under 2k and yes...you can get replicas and they are not a bad option depending upon your build etc.

In my opinion there is NO SUBSTITUTE for OEM though...especially when it comes to TUV standards and the fact that you will always know you don't have the real thing.

I don't think prices will do anything but climb. Look at where the g50 cars are now...not to mention the early cars. 9's are the ticket for both!

I have two sets of 8x16 951 offset & 9x16's. I am hanging on to them as the demand only increases.
