Testing waters - Automotive artwork
Greetings Pelican Parts members!
First off, if this is the wrong forum for this kind of a discussion, please feel free to let me know, move or delete this thread. My name is Dennis - I'm an automotive enthusiast and dabble in artwork on the side. I try not to exclude myself from any automotive market, but due to my client base being mostly vintage Japanese car owners, my artwork clearly reflects a larger body of work that's catered in that direction. That of course does not mean that I'm opposed to illustrating any other types of cars. Lately I've found myself drawn to the elegant lines of Porsche automobiles. The GT3 illustration was done for the Mile Marker 1 event, and the other two were done just for fun - experimenting with looser, more artistic paint style with the Carrera RS, and simple line drawing with the 964 t-shirt art. The GT3R was done for a client that's planning on building that particular car, and wanted to see it visualized on paper first. I've got quite a bit to learn about Porsche over-all, so please forgive any mistakes that you might find in my artwork that's related to the brand. http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1375/5...c1af03e5_o.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2804/4...918232b0_o.jpg http://dsalni.files.wordpress.com/20...4bbb.jpg?w=950 http://dsalni.files.wordpress.com/20...79_o.jpg?w=950 All of my artwork can be viewed on dsalnidrawn | All Products | Online Store Powered by Storenvy and via my tumblr blog. I hope you guys enjoy my work, and once again, if this thread doesnt belong here, please feel free to (re)move it. thank you for your time! |

Dennis,
As this is a place to discuss the Porsche Marketplace, and this appears to be an ad for your art, it is probably the wrong place for this post. I'm unsure where it should go. That being said, I think your drawings are cool, and you should keep it up. There may be a market for your stuff within the community for you to draw people's cars for their garage walls, dens etc. Father's Day presents? I like it! Good luck Nick |
Great art Dennis! I'm going to check out your web site.

Wow, that is amazing for a guy new to Porsches.
Do you render these by hand, or are you starting with a scan of a car and then rotating it somehow? |

All of these are basically digital paintings, if you want to call them that. No scans, just a reference image and a white canvas in the beginning. Then layer by layer I create the illustration. https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1480/2...db183ea2_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1528/2...0a2de4f8_b.jpg |
You created that reference image by hand?
