In today's market, even with the bumpers - and if it has no rust, that's a bargain. I doubt it will last long if the underside is clean and the front suspension pan is as well.
Cars like this (70,71,&72) here in Socal are getting this kind of money even if they are completely apart and in boxes. |

Some paint patches may indicate rust repair, so it's as CountD says: underside will tell all. If it's clean and straight underneath, run there with cash in hand.

That's a real jackass move posting a link to the ad to the car he is looking for.
Remind me never to do business with you. |

ASD - nice car for the $'s. That is probably market price for that rig, assuming the bottom doesn't look like swiss cheese. Few minor changes and that car looks like a $15,000/$18,000 car.
McLovin - speechless.

I didn't appreciate the link post either. Not sure what motivated that.

BS.
As a car and parts flipper, you're not that naive or that stupid. You know exactly why the OP didn't include the link itself, and you know exactly what affect your posting the link has on his potential purchase of the car. Don't play dumb after the fact. It just makes you look even worse. |

That car looks like total junk to me. Look closely at the photos of the doors and front wings.

Holy crap. What a CF this is.
ASD - my intention was never to cause frustration for you, you hadn't posted any details about the car as if you weren't sure about it. I was honestly trying to provide details from what I found in 60 seconds online. I suppose I could have sent it to you directly. There was no ill intent. McLovin - you have alot of pent up frustration, seemingly toward me. We should talk.

that has to be the worse compliment! so it was a faux pas...big deal, I suppose McLovin never stepped into s*** I might have done the same thing as there wasnt enough information to qualify an opinion. some folks really need a chill pill! |

But, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are as naive as you claim to be (as hard as that is to believe). And I'll even explain it to you, so you'll know better in the future: When someone is looking to buy a car, they usually aren't going to post a link to the ad. They may even be somewhat vague about the description of the car. That is because they don't want to make it public. Because all that can do is generate potentially competing bidders/purchasers. And drive the price of the car UP. Which is what the purchaser does not want. (Why do you think the OP didn't post the link himself? You really thought you were doing him a favor by searching for it and posting it yourself?) That is why the OP (obviously) did not post the link himself, or appreciate what you did. And there is some history of people naively posting too much info on a car they were considering on Pelican and having it snatched up while they pondered. We like to think everyone here participates with the best intent. Sadly, that's not always the case.

indeed. I remember the Beirut car on the S registry, the poster had put a lot of info that would have been easy to track down and snatch it before anyone else.

Honestly no sweat at this point. I am a guitar collector and the same issue comes up on those forums where you want info and might end up losing the piece as someone tracks it down before you get there. Part of the game.
In this case I am backing off but not because of the car. There is something else I am interested in that better fits my wants and bank account at this time. I hope someone goes out to look at the 911T and reports back. Thanks for any info and support guys, that is what we come here for.
