TheSamba.com :: VW Classifieds - 65-78 Porsches 911/912 We're selling our clubhouse

Honestly I will never understand whats going on here. I stopped calling two years ago, but still... Are some really going to be cut up for the decor of a themed restaurant / bar. Is there a sad smiley emoticon ?

Words fail me.

I've got his name entered in Google Search (Obituaries) so I can know when to start looking for the Estate Sale announcement...

I was just checking out the local CL. Didn't know he had any 928s in that stash.

Years ago in a college math class the professor spent was explaining an equation. After 45 minutes of writing on the chalkboard she declared: "The answer is, 'there is no answer'." At the time I thought, 'what kind of useless BS are they teaching here? That is the dumbest thing I ever heard.'

Now, 20+ years later I see the wisdom in that math lesson when I see these vehicles offered for sale.

BTW, even though I have been critical of him at times, I will go on the record as saying that he does, on occasion, sell cars out of that collection. While John and I do not get along, that '67 912 in my signature was from his collection of cars. I acquired it last month from the guy who bought it from him.

How was he able to buy it? From everything I've heard/read/seen, lots of people want to buy, agree to the price, but no transaction is ever consummated. For that matter, how do you know for sure that the gentleman who sold you the 912 sourced it from that collection?

The gentleman who bought the car has known John for many years. I too have known the buyer/seller for some time and he is fairly well known around the country. I take him at his word. The car needed a bit of work between Wyoming and ending up in my driveway, and is still far from done. The work already done on it was done by Dave Imes at Apex Autobody and Greg at Eurosport, and is of high quality. It is a solid SWB driver that is rough around the edges. I don't know what was paid for it by the buyer/seller that I got it from, but I feel that I got into it for a fair price.
