Buyer Beware Warning!

Have been watching this ebay ad and was very interested in purchasing this car until I ran the CarFax and realized the owner who has owned it for a considerable amount of years is not telling the truth about the mileage. It is off by a good 100k! When it was brought to his attention there was a simple answer. I guess you better pass on the car???? UM how about I will correct my ad right now! or it has a new odometer. Times are tough and have really degraded the honesty of a lot of people but I feel terrible for anyone who is duped into buying this car.

Item number 160909409435 in Ebay Motors!

jb 911 10-29-2012 05:58 PM

Good heads up. You scared him off and he took his ad down.

Was that a beige coupe without a sunroof?

Sterling911 10-30-2012 10:13 AM

Gold car with sunroof in Colorado had a bra on the front in the picture. These people have no shame and if you think Ebay will help you if you get ripped off you are wrong. I tried once their fraud protect guarantee is BS. I was looking at another car and asked about the mileage and the answer I got was: Don't tell my Dad I am selling it for him but we used to disconnect the speedo when we took trips so the car would still have low miles! Um no that doesn't mean it still has low miles. Beware it has been my experience people think they can hide behind Ebay and not tell the truth I would make sure I ask all the questions and make them produce scans of the records.

mreid 10-30-2012 11:50 AM

That's the one. They have 100% satisfaction with 1 transaction. My bid was cancelled by them and ebay sent me a warning like they knew it was a scam. What a bunch of crap. Listed with no reserve and started at $200. No matter what you bid, an automatic bid outbids you.

Nah, it doesn't sound like a scam at all!

Sterling911 10-30-2012 01:26 PM

Wow Glad I alerted Ebay didn't want anyone getting burned.

comintern 10-30-2012 06:40 PM

I can't believe people selling cars continue to be such rip off artists. just unbelievable, is there any recourse for the public?

Sterling911 11-03-2012 07:07 AM

You really have No recourse after you buy. I once bought a car and believe me had a list of questions and after answering them correctly I bought when the car got here it had been wrecked even though they told me it hadn't and several other things, wheels had curb rash, leaked oil due to a blown engine, and basically I was told by the Dr. I purchased from that I got a good deal. Ebay wouldnt help and a lawyer said good luck it is a used car and it will cost you more than the car to pursue it. So whenever I see lies I try to keep someone else from having the same thing happen.

The crap on eBay exists and its ashamed that it happens but its not all that difficult to spot. With a little DD you can usually uncover the frauds. Those crappy sellers are the minority but they have a big effect on the perception of eBay.

Look at VMC... they have been running that phony green 1994 speedster 4 on ebay for months. Its a pieced together frankinporsche with a US vin number yet they have a speedo and odo which reads in KM's and they are trying to pass it off as a 252 mile car. Thats just outright fraud.

group911@aol.co 11-17-2012 09:39 PM

Maybe no recourse from Ebay but pretty sure odo tampering is a felony in Colorado
