Buy well sorted track DE car?

Happy Sunday everbody
Wanted to get impressions of whether or not to consider for purchase a well sorted street/track 85 Carrera that has got a Salvage title due to water on the floor which damaged the DME 15 years back. When I hear water & salvage I instinctly think forget about it ... and run for the hills.

Is this an over reaction? Would I be able to register and insurance this car in VA? What could the implication be selling this car? How much do you think it is currently worth with its salvage title? Would I be able to sell it without getting nailed?

These days $23k buys a good to excellent original 915 3.2 Carrera with average miles on it. All those modifications, while desireable to someone, generally devalue the car in most people's eyes. Add in the salvage title and it takes another hit. That's a $12-15K car IMO.

NNNNNNNNNNNooooooooooooooooooooo way. For 23K you can get something clean title which would hold better value for resale. For that amount keep looking.
