The 50k.T

I was curious about the 'rare options' 69T thats for sale for $50k on the classifieds. I know long hood demand is huge and so are prices, but I'm curious about the 'rare options' that make this car so expensive ? I read the ad and there don't seem to be any special factory options, which I could see driving up price. It has mid eighties AC added on, is not OG paint, although burgundy is nice it's not a rare long hood color.
The seller makes much of the fact one shop worked on the car over the course of three owners but that's not really such a big deal is it ?
Im curious what am I missing ?

Looks like a nice car with good history, but possibly the worst ad I have ever seen. I would guess that the seller isn't a hard-core enthusiast, but rather a long-term owner who has watched one too many an episode of Chasing Classic Cars and/or auction shows, and has now determined that he has a rare and exceptional car.

There are more than a few Ts that have sold North of $50K.

A Pelicanhead from Florida found one years ago right around the corner from me that was Tangerine with material-to-sample tangerine leather sport seats. Not sure where that one went, but I imagine it would be a contender for 'highest value' '69T ever.

The final 'kick' that gets these cars over the $50K mark is an unusual color. The Jade Green '72T from Southern California is out there somewhere, and likely would command a value of $70K or better.

As for the burgundy car, that's an awfully shabby rear engine grille. And unless magnesium, those wheels dont' add much -- if any -- value. And 'Yale faculty ownership?' ROFL

Not to mention, a '69 would have a 2.0 engine, not a 2.2.

What one man wants to sell it and another will pay for, it is what it comes down to. Anyone with some knowledge of early 911's would have an idea what they would offer. Who know he might find someone that likes that color...
