looking for some pricing help on badges
my upholstery guy is awesome and i try to help him out when i can. he keeps most of the parts from the cars he works on that people no longer want. i stopped in today and he had a little pile of porsche items but i am not really up on pricing for these types of items and was hoping you all may be able to help.
first were a couple old grille badges. the first one has some of the acrylic (or whatever the color was made from) missing but appears to be in good shape other than that. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps8e7060ea.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psdb9b822e.jpg not sure if this one is porsche-related or not http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...pscfb0d3e4.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps9a95b63a.jpg finally he had an mb badge and a lions badge http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...pse0f9095b.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psa6823879.jpg he also had a brand new gold 911L badge http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps36fa88de.jpg |
They still make those grill badges (Stuttgart and Munchen) and they sell new for around $23. I doubt the ones pictured are going to sell for more than that unless someone just wants that weathered look.

thanks

I sold a Stuttgart badge like this for $100 last year. People will definitely pay for the patina. The other two badges I'm not familiar with, probably not of interest to Porsche people. -- Matt

Also there are a lot of repops at quite good prices. I have a green "Nurburgring" badge on my car - it gets comments. An original brings about $1500 but my repop was $65.
Really depends on how much you like the individual badge. And make sure you locktite the mounting screws so they don't drop into the engine :- ) http://petry.org/pics/Nurburgbadge1.jpg And look at this beautiful badge on Eboy - Item 350583969886 http://petry.org/pics/Nurburgbadge2.jpg |
An original '66 Nurburgring badge.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1358213350.jpg

Where do people get these ideas? Old Porsche stuff, original stuff, is going up in value every day. There is real and then there is repro. Not even in the same realm and anyone telling me they are worth the same is the same guy I expect to pm me 5 minutes later trying to low ball me so he can flip my unique part for a tidy profit. Sellers beware. |
