Sport Seat Price Check
Checking the price of these sport seats that have been sitting in the garage for quite sometime. From what I remember they came out of a longhood. What's a ballpark price for seats like this these days? They're in pretty good shape with some fading and no visible tears.
Thanks ahead of time. Regards, Panos ![]() |

They look like sport seats from a 78-84. I would say worth about $1500 if in excellent shape or maybe a little more if you are in no hurry.

The question could be leather sports seats (good or worn/creased) vs vinyl, need redo seats or not, year of seats, & electric or not?
Pre '74 in original or very good & accurate vinyl with correct sliders are $5000 up (sold two for $5500 recently). Leather gets you another $1500+. Needing recovering/rebuilding but with sliders is about $4000. No sliders?? (recent $ asking on ebay about $2000 for sliders alone!!) This info is for those of you looking for future appreciation of your current '74+ seats. These sound right at $1500 for undamaged vinyl, if cleaned up from photos and including sliders. Add $? for good leather, deduct $? for no sliders. Power assist really complicates it. At any rate they will appreciate better than most stocks (but don't quote me on this). But then, I know little more than an average financial adviser. Cheers, George

So long story short, those seats are gone and i've found these old guys...much worse shape than the previous ones and seem to have been out in the elements. Are these useless and is there even worth to them? The one shown is in worse shape than the other.

A good upholstery shop could make those look like new. If you pass on them ten years from now you'll be kicking yourself for not picking them up (if they can be had for cheap in their current condition). Refinish them in leather, they'll be much more valuable - and nicer to sit in.
If those were close to me (so I didn't have to pay shipping), I'd buy 'em.

sport seats
Are those the ones that were on the San Diego CL? If so, they were a good buy for someone.

You guys are not going to like this...........sport seats can be made from new materials. This entire sport seat rarity is over blown.
With a proper newly made frame a top notch auto upholsterer can duplicate a sport seat. |

I did see the one's posted in the San Diego CL! I spoke to the seller and he found out what they were worth and he had a bidding war over them.
What would the grey ones be worth and how much do you guys think it would be to restore them? (I'm trying to decide whether or not I should restore them or just sell them) To Cal44 wouldn't the fact that recaro made these seats maintain their value? Anything that recaro touches seems to cost a fortune and if they were to remake these I think they would go for a fair chunk of change...of course anyone could replicate the seats but that in itself is the greatest form of flattery. We would charge approximately $1600 - $1700 to re-pad and recover those in German vinyl, about $500 more in leather. Any parts or refinishing of the hinges, base, etc. would be additional. I have bought sport seats needing restoration (but in better condition than the grey ones) for $200 - $400/pair
