Targas
I have two Targas that I bought the past year to Strip. No engines or transmissions . #1 is a 74 targa and # 2 is a 76 Targa
Would like to know is there is any value in keeping them as a roller. Everybody looks for coupes. I always see Pelicans parting out a Targa that are 74 and up. I have the title to the 74 which has some rust. Car came from Texas. I have a bill of sale for the 76 . Bought it from a owner of a salvage yard that spent alot of money in the early 80s to just garage it and never use it. I am using the front clips and doors on a 74 and 75 coupe that I'm working on ![]() Should I cut them up ? Thanks ![]() ![]() |

I sure hope that the yellow one is not actually a Carrera.
I believe that the targas will soon be as popular as the coupe - Porsche has reinvented the original targa concept with the 991. Get one now - while they are not as hot as the coupe! Google Image Result for http://s1.aecdn.com/images/news/porsche-911-991-targa-rendered-into-reality-51515_1.jpg |

They both are plain jane 911 s . I double check the vins. The yellow one is a 74 the I picked up for the tail and suspension. The tail I think is original
The black one is a 76 that I bought for the front clip and rear RS flares . I was told from the salvage yard ower that it had a salvage title that he never put in his name in the 80s Thats why I would like to see if anybody would like to interested in a targas when I remove what I need |

and the black 77 not a 76 is 9117212xxx . |

I am very skeptical of this "reinvented" targa on the 991 platform. The news article is pure speculation and WAG (wild a$$ guess) with a rendered/fabricated picture. There may be absolutely zero consistency between this article and reality. So I'll believe it when I actually see it... from Porsche. Kirk |

Seems like you answered your own question if you are already using the front clips on the cars, so am I missing something here? I mean if you cut off the front clip and use the front clips the tubs are already pretty much smoked so what's the point of keeping two tubs that have the front clips removed?

Exactly what he said. If you cut the car in half what are you offering?
Also be warned about the legal ramifications of your actions. Since the front half carries a vin and the back half carries two vins, in many places what you are doing is illegal. When you graft the front clip onto the "new" vehicle you are going to have a car that now carries two vins. Depending on the price and exact nature of the rust, I could be interested in the '74, if it wasn't cut in half. |

I just removed the fenders, hood and doors. Gave the interior to a friend that has a nice porsche project. A junk yard wont take a tub cause there is no wieght .
So If I cut them up I could scrap it. Rather not, but I need the my yard back. I would like to sell the 74 as a tub with wiring harness |

You need to post lots and lots of pictures to get an idea of the value of your tubs. And include descriptions of anything that is shown in the pictures that will be taken off prior to sale. Then we can help you evaluate their value. Could be $500. Could be $2500.

Still interested in the 74. For me to be a player on it, it would still need to be on wheels with brakes and suspension. Don't care about interior much, but would want targa top and gauges. If you want to talk, shoot me a PM with more details on the car. It interests me because it is the same color as my coupe...

Are you selling the Targa tops?
If you cut them in the right places, you can sell practically every piece. I would look at some other ads here, for how best to cut them up. |

I think that yellow 74 is one I bought in Texas and took to Utah in 2003. It did have a 76 Carrera 3.0 engine and tranny in it when I bought it. Unfortunately the engine and tranny were taken from my storage unit. I've been looking for an early tail like that for another project. Would you be willing to sell the tail?
thanks, Bob |

I bought it from a guy who stripped it completly. He took the front bumper, fenders, hood , doors, seats, gages, and more. To use on another targa he had. I bought it for the tail and sheet metal . I didnt know that the tail was orginal . That was a plus. Keeping it for a 75 coupe .
But then I found the black 77 for sheet metal . That has a salvage title and was sold to me knowing it would be stipped apart. I am going to sell the yellow 74 as a roller some time in the next couple of months. And going to give the targa from the 77 to who ever buys it. |
