Price Check: 1971 911T Targa Project

A good buddy of mine is about to list his 1971 911T targa up for sale. It is a project although it starts quickly, runs, and drives. It has 108k on the clock and the 901 trans has been rebuilt somewhere around a 1000 miles ago. All the mechanicals are original.
We would like to know the price range at which to list the car to move it fairly quickly. Below are some pictures. If you head to the photobucket album, there are quite a few high res pictures of almost all of the car.

Photo bucket do not see, must be missing something.

Rust is the main concern, it makes the car valuable to almost a parts car. I am not saying yours....gee prices are all over the place on cars like this, wrong seats, wrong gauges, mirrors many wrong parts. Most on here are reluctant to appraise cars, because someone will fault the appraisal for sure. But not many vintage 911 under 10k, maybe 15k, who knows...without a full inspection. Parts now are thru the roof new or used. These cars max out about 35k, but higher if concours, but if a guy must weld pans, no easy task, and to not be upside down must do all the work himself. You said easy sell, contact me, or just throw out a price.....

I would put it at $7500. The rust repair will be a significant expenditure, and since there is no photobucket link, I have to assume the right rocker isn't the only rusted area. Targas also seem to frequently have holes in the passenger rear floorpan. Most of these cars have rusted/perforated front pans, and often the rear seat buckets are also lacy... The rust at the base of the Targa bar probably means more under the bar... so with all that, you're looking at $10K in rust mitigation.

Dash, door pockets and proper seats are $5K. Both mirrors are aftermarket and the right side is mounted where it is useless to the driver, so that needs fixing.

So, again, fair deal at $7500, and maybe someone will pay more based on irrational exuberance. Do you know the original color, because I think it wasn't white.

Targa

Just tap in one of the featured photos and the Photobox will open. This car reminds me of what I used to see when living in the Midwest.
