80-911SC 07-05-2013 11:16 PM

thats one of Mangnus's cars ...

I am sure its not in need of anything ....

Look at the pics in the ad ..

o .. you guys had a funny going ...

James Brown 07-05-2013 11:51 PM

i did, needs a lot. it's basically a mess

PaulGeudon 07-05-2013 11:57 PM

Magnus is quite clear in the ad that it's not one of his builds...

It's a desirable car though, so if you have enough to put in to the renovation, it could be lovely. That said, it already seems relatively expensive considering the amount of work needed.

theclaw 07-06-2013 05:03 AM

Got to admit its a darn good job of documenting a cars condition for an ebay ad.

Yep, definitely needs some work.

Selling as-is, is likely a smart move. Could be a money pit.

Magnus Walker’s 1965 Porsche 911 #365

Hmmmm, I see one of the mods moved this off the tech forum. Nice of them to be so considerate to tell me.

LOL. The comments just made me LOL. All of them griping about how overpriced it is - it's a '65. ANY '65 in this condition is going to fetch huge money. Heck, a basket-case '65 is going to fetch eye-popping money.

Matt Monson 07-06-2013 08:57 PM

I'm going to live to regret the day I sold a '65 912 RHD project car for next to nothing.

This car? I wouldn't be surprised if it closed out the auction around $100k. With where things are headed a car like this is $200-250k restored. The day is coming and it is close.

techweenie 07-07-2013 02:20 PM

Anyone interested in a numbers-matching '65 for $70K? PM me.

Joe Bob 07-08-2013 08:30 AM

So...he killed the ad and started over.....

No, he sold it outside of eBay. Rumor has it at North of $100K. But you know how rumors are...

Joe Bob 07-08-2013 10:28 AM

Wonder what the commish woulda been to FleaBay at 100K.

$125 flat fee on eBay automobile sales.

Joe Bob 07-08-2013 10:38 AM

Interesting......you think the buyer was worried it would go over 100K? Or the seller said WTF, SOLD?

techweenie 07-08-2013 10:39 AM

You're calling for speculation on the part of the witness there, sir.

techweenie 07-08-2013 10:41 AM

On the other hand, what is "Porsche Marketplace Discussion" other than mindless speculation?

;-)

Joe Bob 07-08-2013 10:43 AM

Dunno, Jefe....1st time here. Some dickless admin sent my thread over here.

vracer 07-08-2013 04:32 PM

Joe Bob, we need you here. Whenever I see that mindless yellow thing you have jumping up and down, I think you should paint it green, and call it a chili pepper.

Joe Bob 07-08-2013 04:36 PM

Find me a green obnoxious jumping weenie that fits the limit....it's the new avatar.....

SO..........Magnus did not sell that car.

Magnuswalker911.com for "the rest of the story...."

COLB 08-08-2013 04:55 PM

For those skipping the blog entry, some guy who previously owned & sold the original engine saw the kardex in the ebay ad, and hooked Mr. Walker up with the new owner.

After some negotiations (and no doubt a hefty transfer of fundage) the red '65 has been reunited with its original (and now beautifully rebuilt) engine.

Maybe it is worth it to Mr. Walker to rebuild it -- or maybe the for sale price just doubled!

Cool story, though. You gotta love the power of the interwebs.

Joe Bob 08-10-2013 08:22 AM

I see ads for engines to original rides, first time I heard of a match.....

This car had a lot going for it from a "matchmaking" standpoint:

1. The Magnus Walker connection

2. Featured on Bring a Trailer.com

Tens of thousands of eyeballs perused those ads.

James Brown 08-10-2013 02:25 PM

it's now for sale at gooding & co.

What am I missing? That's a link to his '72. Or is the '65 also back on the market?

No, I think somehow someone bought the '65 and 'front' dated it into the '72...seems like a good idea to me.:D
