My car sold how does one handle the trans

I guess what is the safest and fairest way to deal with a transaction where the car is in the Midwest and the buyer is in the East.

I want to make sure I get the money and obviously the buyer is worried that he gets his car/title. The buyer is considering having the car hauled back East so this is a remote transaction.

I just want the process to be appropriate and controlled the best way for both parties.

Have buyer wire transfer funds into your bank account, then overnight Express Mail the vehicle title to him same day when funds are received. Email or text him tracking no. for him to monitor the document.

Perfect advice. I did this a year ago, and had the buyer arrange for transportation.

How does that transaction protect the buyer? They sent the money, do not have a title nor a car? Is there some form of escrow the money can be sent? Or a private sale on eBay using paypal?

There's really no good way for a buyer to protect himself other than buying the car in person, which I recommend if at all possible. Otherwise I just try to make sure the ad isn't a scam by having multiple phone conversations before the same. I also like to ask the seller for an obscure photo that they would not be able to steal from an auction site, like the inside of the glove box or a close up of the sun visor.

Does using private listing with eBay make sense?
