Does the Euro Cars Bring More Money?
Hello
Looking at a European delivered 1984 Porsche. I forgot to see if it had kilometer speedo. The owner claims more HP, then US. I see side markers and H4 headlights, rear fog light...to me only difference. Thx ![]() ![]() |

Euros were required to have impact bumpers, reinforced bracing in the doors, etc or at least on my 1979SC. Having a 1984 things might be different regarding new safety features for the European Market. The Euros bring greater HP and seem to be popular amongst the P-crowd, but I was taken back when dealers would not go near my "Gray Market SC". Kind of pissed me off back then because I always considered the Euro models the real deal. Despite dealer attitudes back in the 80's when Euros were coming to the states by the boat load things might have changed since then. From feedback here in the forum the Euros can fetch more $$$$ since that "gray market" stigma has passed.

Yes a Euro car is worth more these days assuming it has not been butchered when it was converted. The engine will have a different code as will the VIN.

Equal condition cars, I would pay slightly more for a Euro. The stigma back in the day was because the dealerships were pissed that they didn't get the sale. Nothing else.

euro cars worth more
More HP.... most have cloth insert seat (cooler) ... I feel they are worth more My 1984 Euro has a different ( more tubes) ft. oil cooler than I see on the US models might be different do not know for sure... also a trans cooler and that might be on all 1984 or newer cars

Thats a nice looking car ! Love the color
Euro cars have higher HP (231 vs 207), and normally no cat just the pre muffler. As someone said cloth seat inserts, and I believe some model years had transmission cooler. Not sure if the oil coler is different too. Often they have the rear wiper option. Personally I would pay a premium for a euro car. I re built my US motor to euro spec and it's night and day in terms of responsiveness. |
