I have posted in the technical forum a few times and have not formally introduced my recent Pony acquisition, a 1986 Carrera Guards Red with approx 191k miles. After many moons in the search and few test drives of other P-cars with less than 100k on the clock and with disappointments due to low Compression and or low Leak numbers (bummer)!

This car, according to the PO had a recent engine overhaul from the PO to him, who was a master Porsche mechanic, but had no documentation to back it up and this is the way he purchased it. I test drove the car and loved it! It started right up every time, shifted great with a grind from 5th to 4th (which I later fixed by adjusting the shift-coupler) and it all seemed just great. The PO stated that he only added approx 10k miles in 10 years, which I have verified with a car fax by comparing the mileage. At any rate, the car was for the most part stored in a storage, which the owner paid for for years. The engine looked and sounded great, but it was weeping with oil throughout the bottom of the engine and didn't know where the leak was coming from.

After running a PPI with a local P-car wrench, they advised that the compression was around 160-170 all around and that there were no unusual noises, but that some oil lines needed to be updated as they were old. He also commented that the engine did not appear as though it had ever been taken apart or overhauled (as I mentioned to him that according to the PO that the engine had been overhauled). I later pressured washed the under carriage and everywhere I noticed leaking oil and eventually found out that the only area leaking was the oil tank sending unit gasket and the old oil line.
Question....then if the engine had not been opened, how does an engine with almost 200k miles stay this clean???????? **NOTE** I also have pics which were provided by PO showing that the engine was out of the car. And the tranny appears to be very clean as well.

It appears that the car had been recently painted as it looks to be a 9 out of 10, which I was very happy with, It even has the "MING" finish, which I believe is the reason it's so SHINY. I did find some rust on the battery tray and luckily did not go beyond that.
