M491 Caborilet 1986 38k miles Whats it worth?
I found this Cabriolet, its very close to where I live. Does anyone have any estimated value of what its worth? I think the owner is looking for 30k.

M491
Unless I missed it, the seller does not mention this option - which should be clearly noted due to demand.
Many 911's were "converted" to a wide body configuration, but the main bump in value would stem from it being an original M491 option code convertible. I would look at it (if it's close like you mentioned) and get that fact straight immediately. For me red is a minus, as are the BBS rims, but the BBS rims were very popular in the day and you could source the proper Fuchs later for a few thousand $$. The condition seems a bit odd for a low mile car, but not impossible. These cars (M491 cab) were pretty expensive new, and are usually a little better taken care of. Odometer dead at 38k miles? Check for service and registration records to back that up. If it is a true 38k mile M491 with original paint and no wrecks (and no mechanical needs), I would say $30k is a good price. Heck, even a low mile normal cab might pull $30K these days - It's not like they are making any more of these special 911's (M491) anytime soon... |

1) I don't think those are BBS wheels. They are some kind of "BBS look-a-likes"
2) The car look like it has Turbo brakes, like a factory Turbo Look would. While that isn't a guaranty that the car is a factory Turbo Look, it is a good sign. 3) If it is a true 38K mile factory Turbo Look, it should sell in one day for $30K, with proper advertising. Properly advertised and presented, such a car would be in the low to middle upper $40s in today's market. |

this car is in tragic condition for the 38k miles as represented. 38k miles on a Ferrari can look like that but not a Porsche...we all know how well porsches are built by comparison.
that said, the m491 is getting seriously valuable and even in this condition I would say well bought for $30k. in true mint condition w/ the indicated miles...$50k plus! verify the m491 option and beat them down to $25k...then jump on it!!! |

I think $30k would be tops for this one. We sold the one attached for $36K if I remember correctly. It was very nice two owner, documented and not red.

The Red EBAY car just screams WAY more than 38k miles to me. So typical on these car, everybody has an odometer that "just broke".... At $30k could still be a fair deal, just depends on the actual condition, Since mileage is unknown, condition trumps all. Maybe in person it will be nicer, although that is rarely the case. |

Thanks guys for the input, I am fairly sure it is an m491. I appreciate all the input and help. I hope to find the perfect 911 soon, I just wish this one was not a cabriolet.

The VIN # shows that this 911 is #124 of 226 M491 Turbo Look Cabs produced for North America in 1986.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it flipped back on the market with stock Fuchs, repairs, and a good detailing for over $40,000.
