First: Not my car The work is top, $45k? for WRX 914 this is the question. Type IV (with conversions) Not Porsche but much more HP Is the type IV 914 to WRX for for 914 going to be new thing? - what you think?

I like the look of that car except for the front bumper...
I understand the $$ invested but with a Subaru engine... would be lucky to get half of the asking price.

My humble opinion is that a highly modified car like this is a keeper. You shouldn't build one like this with the intent to sell because you will never get your money back out of it. Thus the seller is being a bit unrealistic in the price they are asking. Is the car worth $45K? Certainly, it obviously has a lot of work and money invested in it. But, more importantly, is anyone going to pay $45K for a 914 with no original paint, engine, interior, etc, etc, etc? That's highly unlikely. I agree that the owner is asking probably 2X too much.
The lesson to me - don't highly modify a car from stock unless you plan to keep it forever. If you do decide to sell it, plan to take a significant loss. Kirk |
