Crazy bubble market....

I am a actually beginning to agree with the guys comparing the air cooled priced to the stock market.

Bought a nice totally stock 26k miles 87 venetian blue Carrera 5 years ago for 33.000 usd. Is for sale here in Europe now for 65K euros......The new owner will make 100 % on his buy.

Another Ex on a fantasy price - but will probably sell.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/793419-75-carrera-coupe.html

Actually glad I sold my SC........but then again probably overpaid for the 912E.

Who will end up holding The bag?

For that price engine bay and interior had better look exactly as it left the factory. Personally I think it's too high but he might get it - the market is a bit nutty.

I think we will agree to disagree on this one. It is Carrera #86 (US Version), with a very recommended update with the 3.2 (the motor has to be worth $6k anyway), comes with a period 2.7 (probably worth $2K), and looks to have the correct '75 spoiler. It looks clean and the owner seems pretty honest about it.

I don't think this is a bubble car - they rarely come up for sale, they rarely are this clean, and with a motor like that it was modified to drive.

The days of the US Carrera not being a special with the stock 2.7 S days are over. These cars have been getting the bad end of the stick for decades, and really, what is special from these years other than the Turbo? I don't think the price is too far off. I wouldn't pay it, but there are people that will.

And I would buy this car over some $40K 911T Longhood Targa any day of the week.

I wonder the same thing... I am in the market for a 911 but really wondering if this is a bubble that is going to pop. I remember when you could buy these cars for 15-20k less than they are now.

I guess the only cool part is that if you pay 30k for a car, bubble pops, and its worth 15k.... you still have a really sweet asset to use and enjoy, rather than a share in stocks that you cannot do anything with but look at and see a giant loss.

Good point!

Facebook has a Mcap of 150B but will be 0 in 5 years. You may overpay for your 911 today but it will never be worth zero

The PE ratios seemed to be bubblish, but that is a really nice car!

Price / Enjoyment Ratio on this one seems to be a lot higher:
2000 Porsche 911 Carrera, "Speed Yellow", 58k miles, 6 speed, 996

Nice car but hardly an aircooled 911 or a 911 at all.....but I agree a lot pf bang for the buck but so is a late Corvette.

The US Carreras are on the rise. I never understood why they got a bad wrap. a limited produced car that still to me looks great. Maybe that's why I have 3. Plus I just watched a 75 US go for 100k

I like them, but they are less of a Carrera than a RSA is a RS. Not saying that I would not like to have one. Just not a bastard like the one advertised.

Christiandk, I am the seller of the 75 carrera and I think it was extremely bad taste to post your ad that is directed at my car right after my post. I believe that I am selling at a fair price. As discussed in my pm to you, I don't want to waste Wayne or Pelican's time deleting your post. You should edit and delete the text yourself. I am furious about this.

Take it easy Mike,

The U S Carrera is not that special, but even if - did you see the brown Maybe US Carrera sold on the auction a couple of weeks ago? Nicer than yours - but good luck with the sale.

I did not mean to post on the for sale section....as my request for the delete!

And thank you for the crazy pm!

Cheers,

Christian

I'm in need of an education on these air cooled cars. I have a basic understanding of the difference in the RS and RSA, but what is so non-Carrera about the Carreras that I see here in the US? I know the euro models had a punch in power - same engine though right?

Mike,

I hope you get every penny and more for your car.
Some people can't stand to see anyone make a bit of money.
Perhaps it's because they never have on a car sale, I don't know. Buy high, sell low is better?
Best of luck,

Matt

Actually I've go over $40k invested so taking a loss. My chief complaint is that the forum rules say not to trash someone's ad and this guy did that.

I remember when smokes were $0.50/pack and houses cost $10k Just something to think about. That said I do wonder if there is a top somewhere. How big is the market for $40-$50k T longhoods?

You can ASK $250k for your 911. Selling price is what matters.
Some cars with comical asking prices will sit unsold for over a year.

At some point, all the 964, 993, 996, 997's become much more compelling,
or they need to become $100k cars. Wait, a 2014 911 costs $100k. LOL!

Why would you be furious? If you were selling a 2014 Porsche for $100, and some guy said your price was fantasy land, would you be angry?
No, you'd ignore him or simply laugh off the moron, and the car would sell within 1 day.
So, you obviously think your car is overpriced, and are angry that someone called you on it.
The market will always speak. It cares not what you think or what he thinks.

I'd be pissed too.
No bashing on for sale threads.
I agree with your statement, the market will be the arbitrator.

Mike,
I think your price is fair and I'd be surprised if it didn't sell quickly
