Now thats a proper car for springtime - Way to go!
You could call Chuck at Redline in Tucson. He has had a lot of these cars for sale and probably still know where to find them. He had a very very nice blue WTL a couple of years ago with only 60k on it. It would not sell at 69K as I recall - not a 69k car anymore though. |

Take from someone who blinked...buy one of these when you can. Prices for the 89s have gone up by 50% year over year. A VERY nice 89 Speedy is going to be $160-200k. A decent Speedy is going to be $150. By the end of this year these appear to be on track to be solid $200k cars...I am always looking and will jump when I can.

I own a triple black '89 Speedy I purchased a little over 2 years ago. Original 27K miles.
Was told they were no big deal at the time. Doesn't appear to be the case anymore as I just noticed a 50K mile car sold in Scottsdale for around $156K. |

I will add a little more color to the thread...
Recently I had a very well known CA Porsche specialist dealer tell me that he is buying every 89 he can find regardless of condition. He had sold 2 89 Speedys in the $160s (with miles and paint work) and another near perfect car for 'close to $200k' Last year I was searching for a 94 (or 89). There was a nice 94 in LA that sold quick to a dealer in Germany. I contacted the dealer (before the car was shipped) offering him a chance for a quick flip. He told me that he had the car 'pre-sold'. So I offered him more $$ to just let me buy it. He then told me he was able to 'pre-sell every 94 for $175k and the 89s even more'. WTF! Bottom line, 94 and 89 Speedys day in the sun has arrived. Get one while you can. I don't think the word about these cars is fully out. If you think about it a 89 Speedy truly is the best of the best when it comes to that generation of Porsches. I personally LOVE them. I am always in the hunt... |
