84 targa with a 3.0 engine

I found a really nice targa in Quebec for sale the only thing is the sellers uncle is a porsche mechanic as I'm told I was going to purchase the car but the seller says the original 3.2 was leaking in many spots so they installed a 3.0 sc engine
Red flags as I know the entire fuel delivery system was new in 84
Had anyone heard of doing this swap I heard the car runing via video it sounds good

Should I run far far away from this

Even whith 3.L the owner told me he put 3k of repair at 17k does not sond to bad.

My concerns are how their controlling the fuel delivery system etc which he doesn't even know he's suppose to be asking his mechanic
