Help identifying a gauge
 

I have a 8K RPM gauge. PN is 911 641 301 29 0001

The date stamp is 8.73. Don't know if it works, but lets assume it's in need of a rebuild. The tick at 7400 RPM is painted orange. Looks like it's hand painted.

Is this a run of the mill gauge from a '73, or am I missing something?

That gauge is for a 1974 2.7 911. The black center button is different from the previous 1973 model year long hood cars which were silver. All 2.7 CIS cars had a 6400 redline, except the 2,7 Euro carrera cars with the 210hp and MFI. The orange colored mark at 7300 is moist likely someone's aftermarket personal touch. August 1973 was the first month of the 1974 model year and the beginning of the 2.7 CIS cars.

I think it is a Tach for a 1974.

That is the right part number and build date, and it is similar in appearance to this 1976 with the same part number:

The 1976 Tach looks much better, and they are asking $120.

In that condition, not much. Even if it still works, which is highly unlikely, it cosmetically still looks way too rough for a driver quality car (bezel ring is rusty, the faceplate is dirty and discolored, and the turn signal arrows are cloudy). I am guessing as a core it would probably be worth around $50 to anyone looking to buy an extra gauge and restore it.
