Thoughts on '84 Euro 930 Coupe value?
I know of a an '84 930 that was brought to the US via the grey market. Car is possibly up for sale. Originally sold in France and then came to the US. The US importer tag is still on the door sill. It is fairly clean, but Fuchs are long gone. ANd it has some minor electrical issues, but have not a done a full PPI. It is a LHD, sunroof-delete car.
Do the grey market cars parallel the US spec 930's in value? Part of me thinks it is somehow cooler because it was a banned car back in '84 and '85? Any thoughts on value? Thanks guys.

Euro cars are desirable, but they can be divisive and depending on what happened to the car on import, and what docs there will really determine some key points to set a price. If you have EPA and speedo swap docs bravo, if not its OK but in this market where originality is key it could be a hit. Color and condition visually are important, but overall its a Turbo so GWOS mechanical history is crucial. Id start around $33k, but could go down or up depending on how in the dark I am about mech history, and what it needs electrically. The missing Fuchs are a drag and expensive, does it have correct headlights, tail, seats, rear branded carpeting ?
All expensive parts.

It could be hard to register in some states depending on the "americanization" they did.
That. would limit some of the potential buyers. Not a problem where I live.

Euro market cars are now worth more than US spec cars, because you can sell to a much larger market, the whole world. Most of the crazy prices lately, are because of the under valued dollar versus the Euro and Pound, many of the crazy priced cars are being shipped back to Germany and other European countries. I recently sold cars to England (74 US Lotus Europa Special), Germany (79 euro 930) and Denmark (89 911 Turbo Cabrio US with heavy accident damage runs&drives) all of these cars sold for substantially more then they would have sold for here in the US

I think you have your answer. Send it to Europe. Unless you want to keep it local and off the track. ![]()

The ROW 930s of the early '80s were fantastic cars, as were all ROW 911s of that era. I had the pleasure of driving a lot of them when they were new or nearly new and they were generally a little lighter and quicker than their American market counterparts.
The problem with ROW cars in the USA, (grey market cars), has always been the converter/federalizer people and the lack of proper paper trail or records which at this stage of the game can be a very large question mark. We're talking about 30 year old cars. The stated mileage and odometers are completely meaningless w/o a spotless paper trail. The speedometers have been changed. When? What was the mileage, (kilometers), when it was done? WHat kind of service did it have before and since? These were non-issues when the cars were new and people were bringing them over to save $$ on the currency exchange, (hard to believe the dollar was ever that strong). ![]() The condition of most older 911s in northern Europe is really rough. They get driven and not babied and the weather can be unkind to them. I've seen a lot of ROW 911s that are real swamp donkeys in the U.S. All that said, if you can find a euro 930 from the early '80s that is clean and cared for with proper records, I'd definitely recommend it. THe supply has seemed to dry up as with all desirable 911s, a few years ago I used to see them all the time in great colors with low miles, etc.. ![]()

IT was sold at a dealersdhip that was a dealer for Mitsubishi/Porsche ourside of france.
WHich may explain the yellow foglights and possibly the bbs wheels. Tried finding the dealer and its contact info but its now an all Mitsubishi dealership. Imported and owned by i believe a guy named Richard Landis, Who is a country music producer in Nashville, TN. The car HAS been to Nashville by some records i found, mainly "Arrest and Tow ticket" I contacted Landis on twitter but he hasnt replied. All i have is a possible phone number found on google which i havent called yet. Not sure about the owner before me but im sure he may have a paper or two. 55.5k miles interior 9/10 exterior 7.5/10

If I could register a ROW 930 and get it super-cheap, I'd take a swamp donkey. Heck, have you seen some of the pics of Ronnie's girlfriends? Almost the definition of swamp donkeys, IMO.

Eric, it appears that you are fishing for photographic proof of the "swamp donkey" in question - check your PM box for a message with photo attached!

Since all 930s are now at least 25 years old would there be any issues registering a Euro car? At this point because of their age they shouldn't need any more federalization.
