74 Carrera sold at Branson Spring Auction

I was interested in following the auction this past weekend
for I own # 399 in the same color light yellow with 2,000
less miles same condition.
Interestingly, this was #398. I wonder if they grouped
cars in production by color or similar options?
There have been very few 74 Carreras that have crossed
the auction block over the past ten years so I was interested
in seeing what would happen. I have heard of cars
passing hands privately with few mention of price. I do know
of a couple that have gone to europe for big money but
just guys talKing on the forum.
If you have driven one, you know that they are special
and are more of a experience than most people think.
#398 was the featured car on all of the literature
for the Branson spring auction so I know they felt like it would do
well. It sold for just shy of $90,000 with the buyer paying
a hefty fee on top of that.

Those are big numbers. But, I agree, they're very good cars and under-appreciated. They deserve to be judged on their own as opposed to constantly being compared to their euro cousins.

Wow, $90k?

I have #354 with about 85k miles. It is in the Olive Green color. I have been told by many that it is worth a lot, but like the original poster, was not sure whether that was really accurate or not. Good to see prices ticking up for this car. It really is a lot of fun to drive and Euro and RS prices are certainly not hurting the US Carrera values, for sure.

Honestly not surprised. I accept that there are members here who think I am high when I talk about where these cars are headed.

Top of the market will always be 100-200% of mid market. Lots and lots of $40-50k Carreras to be had. Nice cars. Show able cars. I don't consider drivers mid market. You want a driver '74 Carrera? Expect to spend $30+
Me, I would buy a pair of matching '74 911 Targa and Coupe drivers with that money.

It's a difference between what I personally wound enjoy versus what I think the market values them at. There are very few instances where I would pay what high market is on one of these unique cars.

It's a short list. 993 RS. 964 Cup. '76 Turbo Carrera. And give it another 6 months and I suspect even those cars will be selling for more than I think they are worth.

Thanks, does it have a green interior as well? You are lucky to have such a great period color.

No, it has a black interior. Factory 7s and 8s. No AC and no Sunroof.
