3.2s approaching Turbo values?

When I first started browsing 911's I noticed that Turbo cars were way more expensive. Like $20,000 more.

Here is an 87 coupe Turbo with 100k for $35k
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/774165-1987-porsche-930-a.html

A non-turbo an 87 coupe with 100k can almost fetch $35k these days.

But, the prices will never converge since they are different cars.
So, are the 3.2s overpriced, or is this Turbo underpriced?

It seems like a steal for someone who wants a Turbo.

I noticed that car earlier this morning. Unless it needs a full engine overhaul, I'd say it's underpriced, and won't be around much longer.

Rear flares look "funny".

I think it is really what you want. I for one don't think I would want a turbo. Way harder to tune up. To me a super clean 3.2 is worth just as much.

From a collecting stand-point, I believe turbos are worth more and undervalued. What other car for that price has id as iconic and had the influence that the turbo has had?

The turbo look may become more collectable. That is a cool car also!

In what way? To get to the plugs on the left bank, it is easier to remove the turbo plumbing to do so (easy), and the intercooler always has to be removed for most any service (also easy), but not much different other than that . . .

Interesting comment about super clean 3.2 being worth as much to you, as the Turbo is undoubtedly way more car for the money (potentially way more cost of ownership, too :D).

The 930 is very cool. Just not for me. It is true that the turbo is way more car for the money but in reality the modern cars like the 420H.P Mustang GT and the Challenger and the Camaro and a whole bunch of others are now way faster. So to me some of that mystique of the 930 of the past has diminished some what. That is why the 3.2 Carrera is just fine with me.

Ronnie's.930 04-20-2014 04:25 PM

A nice thing about the 930 is when you add 100-150 RWHP with bolt on mods (different turbo, intercooler, muffler, etc), it is suddenly much faster than the cars you list above - remember, the stock 930 weights a tad over 3000 pounds and all of the cars you list are well over 4000.

Understood that it is all a matter of personal preference, however.

Hi

Just back from Hershey....WOW WHAT A SHOW...

Turbos are always worth more...apples to apples.....no need to explain.....:)

A 1977 930 sold at show for 6 figures...owner would not release exact price.

When I see "odd" prices there are usually stories attached....that's why Internet cars are only a guide...nothing more...seeing the car first hand cannot be overstated...

A German man I spoke with made a good comment to me....good, original cars, not modified, rare ones like S, E, 930 cars will always be wanted by the buying masses....common cars like Carrara and SC can be in a later fall...

A 2013 Mustang curb weight is 3650.

Put a fatass in a 930 and it gets heavier, too. :D
