Value of a bastardized 356A

Just trying to figure out if some work to put it back to a decent outlaw would be possible without wasting tons of money.

Car has 911 fenders, 914 2.0 engine and VW tranny. New paint and windows, doesn't appear to be rust but hard to tell. Rear flooring area is VW part. Ugly non-original wheels. Trying to figure out if it could be made into a fun outlaw car at a decent price. Not many pics to go by. At first thought it was a kit car but owner assures me it's a real 356A.

You're going to spend about $8K to do a good job putting the car back to non-flared configuration. Likely you will never find the original engine. Or trans. So now it's a matter of chassis condition and driving dynamics. I'm far from an expert in the 356 world, but I think you have something that will never be much more than an interesting driver.

really up to you if you want an outlaw

likely faster then stock and will corner better to

does it have disks or drums ?
other upgrades or old stock bits under it
as with all 356's how much rust ?

why pull off the flares ?
it is never going to be stock again
why try'

it is what it is
is it what you want

Oh God. That car actually was in a magazine at one point. Taste is subjective...

The first thing to do is put the fenders and quarters back to stock. Unfortunately nobody makes these panels cheap.

Remember the expression, "Run what ya brung"? One of the things I appreciate most about the P-car community is that it is tolerant of 'eccentricities'. This is an outlaw, and if you can get it to your standards for a number that will make you happy to drive it, buy it.

Just keep it going down the same path; don't change horses in mid stream, etc. I'm sure others can contribute more clichés along with advice.

It already looks like a fun outlaw to me.

I think nota's question about the brakes is a good one, would sort of complete the package.

Brakes would be a good thing, not fond of the color or the flares to be honest. I'm trying to peg down its value given its mods.

The question is can a completely molested 356 be brought back into something cool, well, you be the judge.

So my car has a brother! Schweet!

Hard to value but they get love too! So like someone else said.. its already a fun Outlaw.

It could probably be brought back to stock, but it will probably be cost prohibitive based on parts and unknown labor needed.

Do you have any other detailed photos, wheel wells, interior, engine? What's the asking price?
