Porsche 912 flip

I saw this on my local craigslist, and it was sold in hours before I could take a look at it. I thought it was likely someone who bought it to flip for a quick profit. I've been looking for months to buy a project car and was disappointed, as this car looked to be a perfect candidate. Very few Porsche cars show up around here, and I don't want to buy a car I haven't had the chance to check out for myself. I accidently posted this in the classifieds earlier.

1968 912 Porsche SOLD

Three weeks later it pops up in North Carolina for double the price.

The $7500 price seems to have been WAY under market, and the $15k is about right for a solid but non-runner with some rust issues.

Looks like the first sale was from a scrapyard/dismantler.

Looks like a good deal to me at $15k! Any and all short wheel base early cars are getting expensive.

Still seems cheap at 15 if rust is not too serious. But 7.5 is like giving it away.

Those are the magic words.

My guess is that the rust is more serious than the new owner is letting on -- explaining in part why it might have been in the scrap yard...

But if you want one, definitely worth a look.

It really sucks that these slimey used car dealers spend night and day scouring the internet to find reasonably priced cars, buying them and flipping them for a quick buck. I think its artificially driving up the price of the cars, and pushing enthusiast people like me that would like to buy a car out of the market.

But i guess the seller was happy and he had a quick sale and did not loose his time.
