Living in the area, I monitor the DC craigslist regularly, and this car has been for sale at this price -- off and on -- for over a year.

He usually posts a picture with the car. Not much detail, but nothing stands out, either.

I don't know what the full story is, but there is obviously something more than the seller it letting on.

- accident history (ad says minor?)
- disconnected A/C
- Odometer broken -- owner claims it is "recent" (don't they all?) -- but that story and the (unchanged) mileage are at least a year old
- The car is gold

Those are all negatives, but the price is also not unreasonable. I don't know why the car is taking so long to sell -- but given that it hasn't sold yet at this price, and the owner hasn't lowered it, there is something else at work (maybe the "tell the wife it is for sale" gambit?) -- and I wouldn't expect it to move anytime soon.

COLB,
What effect does lowering the car have on resale demand?

Seriously? Lowering a NA car to Euro height is incredibly common and IMO irrelevant to resale demand/price. Anyone who thinks that this is an issue is an idiot. Want your car back at SUV height? Change the springs. It's not like the car is slammed for the "stance" look and has boy-racer *****box cans on the exhaust.

I think that preworks the price Index linked to prices on Ebay. Thus its comparative pricing which then takes it and adds a large portion of thingamyjig which is at once re calculated to take advantage of eight hundred plus posts which have no value and then divides that figure just to prove that any car on Ebay can be held up as a solid example of Porsche 911 pricing. Of course one needs to factor in a very large dose of mental and otherwise masturbation, take the median of that and the effect is that you get something called pushingmyluck.

PML and RK, youse two are in need of a , as when COLB wrote " . . . owner hasn't lowered it . . ." he was referring to the asking price - not the car itself!

Change the springs? Don't you mean "turn a few bolts?"
