50K for a ´76 911S!?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/760929-fs-1976-911s-targa-must-seen-believe.html
The interior sure looks nice and it comes with brand new paint on the heatexchangers. Plus the seller says it drives better than when it was new - Now if only I could rent his time machine I would go back 10 years in time and buy a couple of nice longhood 911S for that 50K! Cheers, Christian |

I think for this car, $27k is about the top of what he could expect. Low 20s is a better guess. That interior is nice, I will say that much. |

That story is a bit TMI. Why would I care that the original owner had a Rolls Royce?
I want that plaid for my '67. |

If I could rent his time machine, this would look really cool next to my Gullwing, Speedster and '73 Carrera RS. And my stock portfolio would look very different as well.
That said, originality costs. It's hard for me to understand how that interior looks that nice after all these years, 20K+ miles or not. $50K is a lot for sure, but certain nice cars demand crazy prices. I guess there are those more interested in collecting than driving. Maybe they raise the prices of all our cars somewhat. |

I love the condition, color, and interior but that price isn't consistent with the mid-year market by a long shot.

Why not? He can ask whatever he wants. Seriously, how many mid-years do you see that come up this clean? None. Hope he gets it, as these cars have been shunned, abused, parted, re-engined. How many real clean and correct examples can be left? Who knows, but probably not many. The people who originally bought them in their late 30s and 40s back in the '70s are now getting to be around 75 years old. Maybe they have them stashed in their garages, but try to find a clean car and it's hard.

so is my 77 911S worth that much :)
A few restore items and add the red interior and my car would look just like that. Wait at minute that would make it red and red.
![]() There are some nice ideas though to try on my car. ![]() |

This guy is asking $42,500 for a guards red 75 Carrera with a tuned 3.2 and a variety of mods:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/761637-75-carrera-nicely-sorted-3-2-5spd-manual-arizona.html ![]() I guess there is a premium for the Carrera, but how much survives the engine transplant -- even with what sounds to be a quality build?

Well my time machine worked, The car SOLD!!!, and in just four days for my price!!! So I guess the mid years are coming up in value if they are original. Oh, and it is staying here in the U.S. Thanks to all those who were interested in my car.

Congrats to you and the new owner. Originality is what commands a premium in this market. Lovely looking car in a wonderful color combo.

Now this seems like a deal...is probably already snapped up by a greedy Dutch dealer.

I'm not surprised at all. Some people here do not seem to understand the collector car market, there is an exponential, non-linear jump in price for an original car in this condition. To compare its price to the other mediocre-to-schit cars featured here is irrelevant.
A 38k mile, showroom condition Mercedes w123 diesel wagon recently bid to near $50k on eBay with furious bidding activity from multiple suitors. A pretty nice one goes for $7k. The car in the OP is a one in 100 thousand find. $75k would not have surprised me. It is not a "driver". |

The original car was for sale nearly a year ago. Back then that price was surprising. Today not so much.
