912 swt

Guys,

I was begged to buy a soft window targa 912 a couple of years ago. Back then the car was not interesting. Now, yes!

68' tangerine. just a driver but original with docs from day one. Totally stock like it left Zuffenhausen but with patina.

40-60k?

Gee, Christian I hope so for your sake.
But my God…that's serious money for a 912!

Well Nick, I never studied up on the SWT. I know too little about the pre bumper cars.

Cheers,

Christian

That's what they sell for, I know of a few sales in the mid $60's. I'll be asking almost half that for a 67 swt project I'm going to sell, needs 25k in work, but worth 60 or more when done. They only make 544 in 67 and about 1200 in 68

Actually if I had the room for a third car I would probably go for a 924 Turbo....lots of them in Italy, and I believe that their time is coming.
Given the relatively low price and abundance of 944 Turbos, what is the appeal for 924 Turbos? Is it just a matter of production numbers?

I see a lot of running 944 Turbos for $5-7k, with good driver cars around $8500-12k depending on mileage & history.

Not saying you are wrong -- just curious to understand your thinking.

May I just ask this one(stupid) question?
Why are they so stinkin' valuable? Has to be scarcity alone, because there are a lot more 'cars for the money' than these out there.

Well Colb, I was thinking that the 924 is what the longhoods would be to the 911s. Of course there is the thing with the audi motor, but somehow the simplistic 70s design appeal to me.

Here are some

Porsche 924 2.0 Turbo "ISCRITTA ASI" als Sportwagen/Coupé in Grottammare (AP)

Porsche 924 2.0 Turbo als Sportwagen/Coupé in Lucca

I dare you to find a good original 951 below 12K.

its all an illusion..so much of big numbers being thrown out there but the reality is very few are in that price range category that would pass the sniff test...asking prices are making leaps and bounds every other week reaching new highs but are they SELLING?

Sorry have to post this cool pic....I love police Porsches. Imagine making a turbo look like that. Should be easy and reversible with foil.
