1985 944 with 22k miles???

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to buy this really clean car. Its been sitting for about 9 years and needs almost nothing. The paint (Black) is in great shape and the interior is super clean. The seats are black with cloth inserts with Porsche written in them.

What is it worth? Hagerty says condition one cars are 20k. I would say this would be a 1.5 condition. But opinions and real market are two different things.

Can anyone give me some insight please?

Thanks in advance!

Criss

Criss,

Is it an 85 (early style dash) or 85.5 (updated).

Although 22K miles is low, if it has been sitting for 9 years it is going to have needs--WP and timing belt being at the top of that list.

Was it "properly" stored(i.e. jackstands, fuel system prepped?) or just parked in a garage and left?

What options does it have? There should be a sticker under the carpet in the hatch listing the option codes.

I am guessing it is a 5-speed, because the automatic 944s have very little value.

20K is too high a valuation.

Pics would help determine a true value.

Sitting for 9 years means it needs a lot, not a little.

It looks like a time capsule. Interior is perfect and exterior has an inch of dust on it. Due to being close to the beach the aluminum bits have corrosion... I heard about the water pump timing belt (I can do that) but what does a lot of work mean?
It was not prepped. No jack stands and tank has fuel.

So it is an early 85 or an 85.5?

Figure new tires (flat-spotted possibly). If he parked it with a full tank, figure the gas has gone bad--so you may be looking at a tank cleaning, new filter, possibly lines/FPR and injectors as well, unless you can de-gunk them.

Check out the battery tray area for rust.

If it has the original rubber-centered clutch that may have deteriorated from sitting. How is the rubber on the door seals, hatch seal, etc?

Just curious, but why was it parked in the first place?

As said previously, 20K is too much, I would be hard pressed to drop 15K on a mint 951, but that is me.

Pics would help.
